SKETCHBOOK SERIES 2013-2016

COLLAGES WITHOUT GLUE

Selection of works created in 2016.

Inspired by collage and printmaking I decided to use a collection of stencils to create a narrative of my relationship with my art though my transition from being an undergraduate art student to an independent artist. Started during my last days of undergrad I decided to continue and develop the book as graduation was approaching.

Iā€™M NOBODY! WHO ARE YOU? POEMS BY EMILY DICKINSON

Selected works created in 2016

This series of drawings and monoprints were created based on Emily Dickinson poems. I decided to draw and print inside the actual book creaked abstract visualizations of the poems highlighting what emotions and moods I felt from reading. The use of abstraction is focused on line and color and creating a contrast between them with the printed words.

WHEN INK BLEEDS I BLEED GLITTER

Selection of works created in 2015-2016

Thinking about cause and effect, and the idea of what is created can be controlled by chance I created this series by allowing my drawings to bleed and soak onto the next pages. This allowed me to explore how textures, colors and lines work on wet paper in comparison to dry. These drawings were then inspiration for my (BE)Where of Glitter Unicorn Paintings.

 THE STRANGE LIBRARY SKETCHBOOK

Selection of works created in 2015.

Inspired by Haruki Murakamiā€™s book The Strange Library I have created a series of abstract drawings. The series inspired by the theme of storytelling and collection of stories as a library does. This causing the act of creating to be informed by chance as the pages relate to each other by having the pages bleed through each other and using the same motif of a circle in an infinite of different ways.

THE POST NOTEPAD

Selection of works created in 2014

Series created in a posted note pad. Exploration of childrenā€™s stickers and the stippling technique creating abstract images and mythical scenes.
